To celebrate yet another installment in the ALIEN Quadrilogy series, to be helmed by original director Ridley Scott,
here's a look back at each of the film's captivating titles begininng with the best of them all, the original ALIEN. (Now I have to wait till possibly 2012 for the FOX DVD collector's release of Pentalogy?) Thanks to ArtoftheTitle.com for the inspiration and uploads.

(I know many people disliked Fincher's contribution to the Quadrilogy. However, I felt it was a great way to end the story (a trilogy at that time) until Winona came along. Pfft.
I've always felt it was a feast, both visually and story-wise. The story was dark and cold but had closure. Granted the FX for gut-poppin alien baby was a tad hokey, overall I felt Fincher's style managed to illustrate the bleakness of the setting and the dread felt by the characters effectively. For the film's art direction, the final garbage dump scene with the haunting distorted deep space transmissions and flagging plastic blowing in the wind, with illegible Nihon/Chinese sign on the dirty walls, was very graphic novel. If you ever get to watch the Director's Cut, bear in mind, Fincher had nothing to do with the edits of the longer version except allowing for his name in the credits. The studios added the extra footage and re-edit the film for the Quadrilogy release. It is in my opinion, a different film.)
ALIEN : RESURRECTION (1997)

(Alien 4 was by far the weakest attempt at reviving the series. Even with the addition of more 'meat' fed into the mix which included the unlikely choice of Winona Ryder and brilliant Buffy creator Joss Whedon scripting this should've-never-been-born story, the journey of a new Ripley back to Earth never quite seemed to rise to the occasion.)
